Hi

After listening to your music and watching you a few years ago in Leicester, I saw you again at Shambala, along with my daughter, in the day.
We tried to go into the Sankofa tent later to watch the acoustic set but it was full up :-(
Still, it was really lovely and magickal to see you anyway in the day. Like being given a treasured gift.

You are loved. Thank you so so much x

Malc StavesSat 28th Aug 5:08 2010

Musically you are amongst the cream of the crop. Looking forward to seeing and hearing you live for the first time in Buxton. Hope the new album and tour with Ms Chapman are a big success! Lol Malc.

Sam PearceTue 24th Aug 3:40 2010

Thank you for your music. Always a pleasure to hear and wonderful to introduce people to as well.

I have been hunting high and low for a copy of the lyrics to Numbness and can't find it anywhere. Has anyone seen them on the net anywhere?

Thanks again Martha xx

AllisonFri 20th Aug 22:27 2010

Martha -- I just discovered your music through a friend, and I love everything about it...your voice, your lyrics, the sound of the songs themselves...gorgeous! I'm especially in love with your reworking of "The Blacksmith"..."A Surfer Courted Me" is such a great twist on the traditional folk song, which was already one of my favorites.

Do you think you might tour North America one day? I live in the southern U.S. and would love to see you live.

David GubbyMon 16th Aug 17:52 2010

Hi Martha,

I too saw you for my first time at the tadpole, Glasto this year. Got home, immediately got 3 of your CD's and been listening ever since.

You certainly have a beautiful voice and your sound, with the band is somethinge else!!. The power off and accoustic element of that Glasto set is a memory i'll never forget, or match I reckon.

"Good world" is just the best track I've ever heard, anywhere, by anyone, live or recorded.

I'd love to hear where you are playing to see you again.

You are brilliant! :-)

Hi Martha,

I first saw you this year at Glastonbury. Seeking shade from the blistering sun we found the Tadpole and you :)
When you sing it's like magic and I was so moved, especially by "Golden Surfer".
Best of luck, and hope to see you again many times.

carla jonesFri 23rd Jul 11:46 2010

Hi Martha.

I just wanted to let you know that your Sunday Afternoon set on the Small World Stage at this years Glastonbury was one of the most magical moments of my life. I got to sing backing harmonies with Martha and the Woods! Who knew that technical difficulties would lead to such an amazing experience? Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

Saw Martha and the Woods for the first time at Stainsby Festival this weekend just past. The musicianship is incredible as is the overall vibe they give off as a group but the thing that really blew me away was Martha's voice.
It has a power and a soulful quality that reaches right inside of you and plays with your heart. As I sat and listened I shed a tear... I was moved by the emotion in her voice as it tugged at my own emotional being and reminded what it is to be a human.
Thank you.

RachaelFri 16th Jul 6:53 2010

I am so glad that on an extremely hot afternoon at Glastonbury my boyfriend and I decided to seak shade from the sun and stumbled across the Tadpole stage at Glastonbury. There we experience an awesome set by Martha who entertained and told stories through her music that felt as if we were all sat in a friends living room! I especially loved Golden Surfer, any chance of that ever being available to download? One of this years Glastonbury highlights, the CD has been played multiple times since!x

Aly ASat 10th Jul 14:13 2010

I have just heard 'My Chair' on Loose Ends (Clive Anderson Radio 4) - loved it. First time in a long time that I have heard something new and thought I must hear that song again. Will check out the album too! x

I saw Martha at How the Light Gets In at Hay on Wye, it was a magical evening, and has inspired me to get writing with my autoharp. Hoping to catch you again if you are ever in the North East!!!

I echo the comments about the Acorn Arts gig in Penzance. First time 'on tour' with Martha (usually see her at the Glee in Birmingham) and a wonderful night. Only two Woods in support so a more lighter feel to the tunes.

Pity that the venue is to close later this year.

Andy GimblettTue 8th Jun 9:58 2010

I came down from Swansea to see you in Penzance the weekend before last, with my cariad Carys, who's studying at Falmouth; sadly I messed up and somehow thought the gig was on Sunday, not Saturday. Sadness abounded.

On the bright side, I spotted an awesome van on the sea front which I bought the next day; hopefully I'll drive us to a future gig in it. :-)

VictoriaLPMon 7th Jun 9:59 2010

We saw you at How the Light Gets In at Hay on Wednesday and were utterly blown away. I'm still singing It's a good good world it's a fine fine world in my head sitting at my desk in the office. Thank you for letting me escape to the sea. It has been a revelation. xxx

OzziesTue 1st Jun 14:27 2010

We made a journey of 170 miles from Bristol to catch you at The Acorn in Penzance on Saturday(and made a weekend of it as a special treat).I would just like to echo the previous comments as we too loved the gig (and enjoying the latest album too).Thank you very much for a lovely evening;I'm glad that you enjoyed it too and we hope that your cough gets better very soon.Have a very good summer :-)

FaithMon 31st May 15:42 2010

Martha, Still feeling the resonance of your gig at the Acorn Centre in Penzance. What a wonderful evening in a special place. Cornwall is very dear to us and we feel the same about it being the place where our souls feel most free. Your song on the piano about Cornwall is so beautiful - please do more spacious piano based songs like that! Despite the cough it was a deep and profound vibe you wove together with The Woods - nearly followed you up to Exeter the night after to see it all again, but then decided to stay in Cornwall and go surfing instead! We love your lyrics and your voice and cant wait to see you at Glasto....Faith and Andy

Just home from the magnificent concert at the Union Chapel.
Martha, despite an unforgiving cold and cough, gave a memorable performance. I have not seen a show for a while and was delighted that to find that Martha is now interpreting her songs rather than performing them as written and recorded. A new level of maturity and musicianship has been achieved. The Woods are fine choices as fellow performers. Thanks for a delightful evening at the enchanting Union Chapel.
PS: Loved the dress !!

'Willie' got the airing in Bistol last night. A great gig; thank you so much Martha for a lovely evening. You made it special for us all because we took our 20 year daughter Sophie (and her friend who had not see you live before) and you sang 'Songs that make Sophie fizz' which we all enjoy listening and dancing too. I am looking forward to your new album as I have all the rest. I loved the way you performed your last song, thank you for that too. Wishing you a very happy and healthy 2010 in your new home.

Andy BarnesWed 27th Jan 9:07 2010

Very much enjoyed the Kingston gig on Sunday. Really pleased Firefly got an airing (I was humming that wonderful melody to myself on the way there!).
Impressed with the new material - having heard 'Old Tom Cat' 3 times now it's dawning on me what a great song that is. Has poor old Willy of Winsbury been put out to grass? Shame - I really like that song and esp how you sing it. Look forward to the new Album.

Just wanted to say Thank You. I picked up the Milkmaids album a little while ago, after stumbling across your music on utube, and it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful albums I have heard in a long long time.

You sing brilliantly, and write fabulous songs. Such a special treat to the world indeed!

I hope last night's gig at the Keighley Krawl wasn't your first after returning. A difficult crowd well handled but I hope your Auntie Lillian wasn't watching.

I stumbled across your music today, purely by accident (I was doing some searches on Lamb, went to Jon Thorne's page and discovered that he had played for you). I went straight to iTunes and downloaded Of Milkmaids & Architects. Music of the Moon is absolutely beautiful and I can't stop listening to it. I'm sure later today I will get to the rest of the album and discover it is equally beautiful.

Cheers!

Dylan RivisFri 1st May 13:59 2009

Your Aus/NZ Limited Edition somehow floated my way....found in a music shop's bargain bin (???).

I'm listening to it for the first time as I write...Music of the Moon caught me totally off guard and there I was .. crying at it's so very perfect beauty and it's lovely simple, walking guitar rhythm ...I'm on my third take...(...."..and I mean..every day.." )..I'm open to the universe, dancing with my hands as I sit here .. a sweet little aerial ballet.

For some reason I'm recalling Greg Brown's song 'Daughters'('..for maybe another two thou a year..I'd have me some more daughters..".

Congratulations to all the musicians..absolutely delightful.

Martha, caught your Friday night show at Port Fairy, and after 'Golden Surfer' you had me hooked. I thought your Monday arvo show (Stage 5) was more intimate and even better. Your performance of 'Good World' gave me such an emotional high that I'll be on cloud nine for many days. Love your songs, love your work. I was wondering whether it might be possible for me to make an animated music video based on one of your songs. I am an illustrator/animator in my final year at university in Bristol, and after seeing you play at the Louisiana recently, would love the chance to make a animation to your music. For an example of a previous animation I made you can look on the channel 4 fourdocs website at the following link: http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/film/film-detail.jsp?id=61045

The subject matter and therefore imagery in that film are dark, but I think the approach of morphing images, when accompanied with colour, would work really well to flow around the lyrical narrative of one of your songs. I thought 'Red' would work particularly well, but obviously that would be your call. PLease let me know if you would be happy for me to do this,

Many thanks and best wishes

George
